Craig Urban, MD, FAAD
Dr. Craig Urban is a board certified dermatologist with more than 30 years experience in general and surgical dermatology. He has an interest in cutaneous oncology and focuses on the prevention and treatment of skin cancers. Dr. Urban also specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery which allows for high cure rates of various skin cancers.
Dr. Urban grew up in Gary, Indiana and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University in 1973. Following college, he attended Indiana University School of Medicine where he received his medical degree in 1976. He completed an internship and one year of Internal Medicine at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana and went on to complete a residency in Dermatology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas with training and emphasis on both medical and surgical dermatology. Upon completion of his residency, he moved to Abilene and joined Dermatology Associates of Abilene. In 1995 Dr. Urban formed his own practice where he remained until 2008 when he became the founder and president of Abilene Dermatology and Skin Surgery Center, P.C. where he and an outstanding staff have been dedicated to quality skin care for the community.
Dr. Urban is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and American Academy of Dermatology. He is also a member of other local and national organizations such as the American Society for Mohs Surgery, Texas Dermatologic Society, Texas Medical Association, and Taylor-Jones-Haskell County Medical Society. He and his wife Nancy have two daughters, Kristyn and Lindsey who were raised in Abilene and have both gone on to professional careers. Dr. Urban enjoys golf, hunting and reading.
